Serving People

and Ecosystems

Dragonfly Ecoscapes LLC is not a conventional landscape company. “Ecoscapes” are sustainable outdoor spaces and landscapes that are designed to work with and enhance the natural ecology of a location.   Our focus is on sustainability. That means low-maintenance landscapes, native plants, meadows, stormwater management, and the creation of habitat for pollinators and other wildlife.  This approach reduces long-term maintenance costs and water and chemical inputs for our clients.

Our team at Dragonfly Ecoscapes is well-versed in ecological practices. Our horticultural experts care about the health of the gardens we manage and the wildlife they serve. Founded in 2026, Dragonfly Ecoscapes LLC pairs reliable professionalism with responsible land stewardship.

Our Founders

Joshua Evans, CPH

Josh is a dedicated expert in ecological design, driven by a two-decade-long commitment to personal, social, and environmental change.

His love of nature and ecology likely grew out of his time spent running thousands of miles as a competitive runner during his earlier years.  Inspired to engage in the human potential for growth and the healing power of nature, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Outdoor Adventure Education, has led Wilderness programs for adults and at-risk youth, and has facilitated dozens of team-building programs for a variety of ages.  Spurred by a passion for nature and sustainable homesteading, Josh received his Permaculture Design Certification, completed an advanced permaculture training, gained his Master Gardener certification, and in 2023 became a WV Certified Professional Horticulturist. Over the years, he has enjoyed cultivating edible gardens, learning traditional primitive skills, foraging, harvesting wildcrafted teas, and a bit of dog training.

Josh co-founded Dragonfly Ecoscapes in 2026 with a strong background in landscaping, gardening, and customer service.  He brings a large knowledgebase of plants to the table and has enjoyed honing his ecological design skills with the company.  As a lead designer and field operations manager, Josh provides friendly and professional customer service and continues to serve as a crucial resource for designing, implementing and maintaining projects across the tri-state region.

At home, Josh appreciates the time for playing music, listening to audio books with his family, cutting firewood, and building community.

Anna Allen

Anna Allen grew up on what used to be the family farm in Jefferson County, WV, helping her dad reforest the land. She pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at WVU, spending her summers working outdoors as a raft guide. After graduation, Anna went on to join the Berkeley-Jefferson Extension Master Gardener program and began to volunteer in the gardens they maintain. She worked as a landscaper, practicing more traditional techniques, before discovering the importance of native plants. Her completion of the Potomac Valley Master Naturalist program deepened her knowledge of plant and insect ID and local ecology. At the start of 2024, she helped to establish the Shepherdstown Bee City Committee, a group that promotes insect conservation via native plants and ecological practices.

Anna’s passion for gardening, ecology, and art guides her work at Dragonfly Ecoscapes as a co-owner and landscape designer. She hopes to become a WV Certified Professional Horticulturist in the near future and continue to spread the word about the ecosystems in our backyards. In her free time, she creates portrait art, grows peppers for homemade hot sauce, and continues to plant native shrubs and perennials on her father’s land.
